Where to Find the Ticket Number on a Traffic Ticket

December 15, 2016 //  by Art Fulmer, Jr.

It’s understandable that you might not quite understand where the ticket number or citation number is on your speeding ticket, because it’s not labelled specifically as such. The Florida Uniform Traffic Citation has the citation number at the upper right-hand side, directly prior to the check number. It’s located directly above the name of the Polk County Sheriff, and directly to the right of the document’s title, Florida Uniform Traffic Citation. It should be easy to find with these instructions.

You need the citation number, along with your birthdate, to pay the ticket through Polk County’s speeding ticket portal. However, paying the ticket is not recommended by many experts, such as speeding ticket author Alex Carroll and consumer advocate John Bowman of the National Motorists Association, since total costs (the ticket fine, court costs, insurance rate hikes) could exceed $1000. To learn more about your rights, contact one of our Polk County traffic ticket lawyers.
